Spring is definitely peeking through this week and it’s been so glorious to see the sunshine. To make the most of the weather, we visited Trent Park County park for a lovely walk, and an even lovelier iced coffee.
Have you visited Trent Park before? There is so much to offer here.
Trent Country Park, located a short drive from Hertfordshire, in Cockfosters, North London , is a sprawling 413 acre country park that offers a wealth of activities and facilities tailored for children, making it a recommended Red Kite Days family day out.
Trent Country Park – A Playground for Every Age
The play area in Trent Park is one of those hidden gems that keeps kids entertained for hours. Whether your little one is a fearless climber or a cautious explorer, there’s something for everyone. Swings, slides, climbing frames, and even a zip wire—it’s got the works!
For the toddlers, there’s a separate area with smaller slides and gentle swings, so they don’t get overwhelmed by the bigger kids. And for the more adventurous ones? The massive climbing structures and rope bridges provide the perfect challenge. It’s the kind of place where you blink, and suddenly an hour has flown by!
Perfect Picnic Spot
One of the best things about this play area? It’s surrounded by lush greenery, making it a fantastic picnic spot. Bring a blanket, pack some snacks, and settle in while the kids burn off their energy. There are also benches for tired parents who just want to sit back with a coffee while keeping an eye on the chaos (we’ve all been there) and a cafe too.
More Than Just a Playground
What makes Trent Park even more special is that once the kids have had their fill of the play area, there’s still so much more to explore! Fancy a nature walk? There are woodland trails, lakes, and even a charming café nearby for post-play ice creams.
Feeling extra adventurous?
Check out Go Ape, the treetop adventure course for older kids and adults. Children can enjoy navigating through high ropes courses, zip lines, and various obstacles, all under the guidance of trained instructors. This Go Ape is definitely on our To Do list!
Wildlife Encounters
Lovers of the outdoors will enjoy the park’s diverse wildlife. Visitors, especially families, may catch glimpses of deer, rabbits, and pheasants along the trails.
The Wildlife Rescue Centre on-site offers children an engaging way to discover local animals and understand the significance of conservation efforts.
Discovering the Hidden Beauty of Trent Park’s Flower Garden
If you’ve ever wandered through Trent Park, you’ll know it’s packed with stunning landscapes, peaceful trails, and plenty of spots to just soak up nature. But one of its best-kept secrets? The beautiful flower garden, tucked away like a little slice of paradise. Our kids LOVE it here, and so do I!
The moment you step into the flower garden, the atmosphere shifts. It’s quieter here—almost like nature hits the mute button on the rest of the park. The hustle and bustle of joggers, dog walkers, and kids running around fades, and you’re left with the gentle rustling of leaves, buzzing bees, and the sweet scent of flowers in the air. Depending on the season, the garden is a riot of color. In spring and summer, you’ll find roses in full bloom, lavender filling the air with its calming scent, and bright bursts of daisies, tulips, and wildflowers. It’s the perfect place to just sit, breathe, and take in the beauty of nature.
The best thing about Trent Park’s flower garden? It’s never overcrowded. While the rest of the park buzzes with activity, this little corner remains a calm, colorful retreat. It’s one of those places you stumble upon and feel like you’ve just found a secret garden.
