Making a bug hotel is a great fun project to get the kids interested in the garden. Gather up items that have little holes for minibeasts to crawl into – try bricks, twigs, canes etc. Stack them up in a crate or box and watch the bugs enjoy their new home. We made a really quick and easy bug ‘hostel’ with an old teracotta flower pot and some cut up canes. However, you could really go to town making a luxury hotel – check out this bug hotel from Basildon Park for some inspiration.
