Jubilee Gardens is a landscaped park on London’s South Bank with an enclosed adventure playground for children aged up to 11 years old. It is located about a 4 minute walk from Waterloo station and can be found in the shadow of the London Eye.
The play space provides the ideal break-out spot for families and children, with plenty of seating for adults looking for a rest stop and a huge climbing structure to challenge children to clamber from one end to the other.
The main structure for the older children is a series of large logs crisscrossed to form walking planks and netting for them to hold onto and balance. Smaller kids have a toddler playground, a miniature version to the right of the big one. There’s also a fort with slide, walk-the-plank swing log, smaller version of the giant net, and two boat swings.
Set within like a sunken design there is concrete seating all around the edge of the park which is great for the adults to sit and relax whilst watching the little ones play. The whole design is like a fort and has special ship features. On the large play frame there are steering wheels for the ships, the usual style swings are in fact small wooden boats where the children can sit in and be swung.
The whole playpark comprises of wooden structures for the children to explore and each of the ships and playhouses have their own slides for the children to enjoy. The flooring is also an inviting green colour to resemble that of real grass.
Noah had lots of fun running back and forth over the different types of rope bridges and climbing up the pretend ship structure. He was really chuffed with himself when he conquered the rope ladder too. Isabella made friends with the concrete sea lion and she loved sitting on him.
The park was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the busy South Bank, we could sit back and relax whilst the children played, and still take in the beautiful surroundings of the London skyline.
