The Magical Woodland Review 2023
We were invited to come along to experience the 15 acre Spooky Light Trail in the Cheshire Woodland at Blakemere village.
This Halloween Light Trail definitely exeeded my expectations. Having been to the Christmas Lights at Blakemere I was expecting the same with a couple of spooky decorations. But my word it was a completely different evening all together.
Filled with lights, spooky decorations, errie music and voices and some amazing live characters such as Wednesday Adam, a Crazy Scientist, Dinosaurs, Ghostbusters and Hocus Pocus.
The light installations were fantastic and as I always find at Blakemere they are always completely surrounding you. As you meander this way and that through the woodland you can see lights infront and behind you so your whole viewpoint is full of different lights.
The Halloween decorations were so impressive. There was a whole area dedicated to spiders and webs. There are plenty of skeletons, pumpkins and ghost but also more suprising themes including walking through the Jurassic World gates into a dinosaur compound and a team of superheros with superman & spider man and all the marvel characters.
What really stood out for us was the live actors around the woodland. My daughter absolutely loved the mad scientist and he even had me laughing. Wednesday Adams was also fabulous, giving us a deathly stare and staying in character so well when talking and interacting with people. Winifred sauders from Hocus Pocus was milling around the food stalls and make my daughter do a witch dance which again had her belly laughing.
With unlimited opportunities to re explore your favourite areas you can stay for as long as you like! We really took advantage of this and spent 2 hours walking around the light trail and enjoying some treats at the end.
Talking of treats, the food village was nice to find at the end of the trail. There was a good choice of food including burgers, hot dogs, chips and pizza, waffles or a stick loaded with marshmallows to toast on the open firepits in the centre of the food village. Hot and cold drinks were also available.
The path was nice and dry so trainers were fine. Its also very suitable for pushchairs. The route is about 1 mile long.
It was such a good feeling walking back to car having spent a lovely fun evening. Find all the best Halloween events in Cheshire 2024
