Walton Gardens 2023 Christmas Light Trail Review

We were kindly invited along for the preview night at Walton Gardens for their new Christmas Light Trail.

The team at Luminate Cheshire have turned the gardens into a captivating light trail, making full use of the stunning grounds and beautiful hall. There were some incredible lighting elements, fabulous interactive light play, and ambient music.

The trail starts through the courtyard in front of the riding stables and follows a clearly defined route through the Gardens. Hot food is available at the courtyard. Yummy delights such as loaded fries, hotdogs, and a childrens menu.

The girls really enjoyed finding lots of interactive features on the trail. They always like it when a trail has something new that they haven’t seen before. The fact that the girls could control 4 large beams of light, shining them into the sky and making them “kiss,” delighted them.

The fabulous interactive lights included:

• Control massive beams of light with a control stick
• Play a game of ‘Simon Says’ with lights inside the bandstand
• Find out if you’re on the naughty or nice list
• Write a Christmas wish and hang it on the “Make a Wish” wall
• Spot real fairies in the magical fairy garden
• Watch an impressive projected show on the walls of Walton Hall

Halfway round, there was some covered seating with a stall selling hot drinks & marshmellows. Choose from a lovely selection of luxury hot chocolates or mulled wine while your kiddies toast their marshmellows on the firepits.

We had a lovely evening. Luminate had created a wonderful display. The thand out installations for me had to be a large wave of light. We could see this from most parts of the trail and was gorgeous walking through it. Another favourite part was the disco balls. They created a shower of moving light, which covered us, and the girls enjoyed dancing in the hundreds of sparkles.

The path is really good. Nice & wide with plenty of signs to show you which way to go. It’s perfect for wheelchairs  & pushchairs. Bonus, it wasnt muddy 🙂

The trail will take approximately 60 – 90 minutes and is 1.4km long.

Luminate at Walton Gardens is open from 30th Nov – 24th Dec. Entry times are from 4:30pm until 8:15pm each day.
