Family Friendly Coronation Events in Gloucestershire

This May bank holiday weekend is packed full of family friendly coronation events all over Gloucestershire. Check out a few of our highlights to enjoy with kids. Many are free with lots of great coronation entertainment and children’s activities.
Cheltenham Coronation Community Celebration 6th to 7th May
Head to Pittville Pump Room, Heritage Café and park for Cheltenham’s largest two-day free celebration for the coronation of King Charles III and The Queen Consort. The two-days include a host of live music; choirs; children’s activity and creative zones with Leisure at Cheltenham and The Wilson, special coronation Victoria sponge cakes; fun dance sessions for all ages; and Disney Princesses Belle and Butterfly Cinderella.
Cirencester coronation celebrations 6th – 7th May
Enjoy arts & crafts at Market Place as well as a screening of the coronation on 6th May. On 7th May, the Cirencester Big Lunch is a free event including artisan market, live music, entertainment, family activities, community stands and food stalls. Bring a picnic and a blanket and join in.
Cashes Green Community Centre Coronation Celebration – Sat 6th May
Doors open at 11am with entertainment from Niggles Magic Show at 11:30am. Enjoy a live screening, face painting, music and kids crafts.
Royal Weekend at Cotswold Farm Park
Cotswold Farm Park will be broadcasting the King’s Coronation from 11.00am on Saturday, as well as ‘The Big Help Out’ on Monday in the Farm Park’s Clubhouse. In the evening… on Friday enjoy Fish & Chips and an evening with your favourite board games. On Saturday, extend your little ones’ play as the Outdoor Play will remain open until 7.00pm. You’re also invited to soak up the atmosphere in the Ox Shed with pizza and live music from two super-talented local artists who will be performing from 5.00pm. Sunday, kick back in the Ox Shed at 5pm with a family-favourite movie night. From 8.00pm, they will be broadcasting The Coronation Concert.

Collect your trail form from either the Museum of Gloucester or Gloucester Quays Customer Services, or download from our website, and head to the nine locations around the city to collect your letters!
Right Royal Trail at Museum of Gloucester 5th – 8th May
Explore fascinating items from Gloucester’s royal history, dress up as a king or queen with fun activities such as colouring sheets. Trail sheets £1 and available from Friday May 5 to Sunday May 7th.
Gloucester Quays – 7th to 8th May
During the course of two days, Sunday 7th and Monday 8th May, you will discover whilst roaming around the site, great British stilt walkers, jugglers and face painters celebrating. Bring a picnic and relax in our picnic area in Pillar and Lucy and play some traditional garden games, all surrounded by the stunning historical docks.
Hurrah for Kings Charles at Berkeley Castle 8th May
In celebration of the coronation of King Charles III, Berkeley Castle will be hosting a previous King Charles! It is 1673 and “The Merry Monarch” King Charles II is visiting Berkeley Castle. Join in with this Royal occasion with music, dancing and the chance to talk to King Charles himself about the advantages and disadvantages of being the English Monarch!
