Creative movement workshop
16 July, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
£5A fun creative movement workshop for youth and adults, using movement, creativity and personal experiences to celebrate nature and the significance of trees.
Dew Dance, a contemporary dance company in High Wycombe, is partnering with Wycombe Arts Centre to bring the community together for this morning of movement. The workshop will explore how trees signify growth, sustain life and is a place of shelter. Trees are home. Attendees will be able to participate in individual and group activities which include learning movement sequences, creating movement based on prompts and even tracing the outline of a leaf using their body.
“Movement is such a powerful tool to tell creative stories. We’ve spent so much time indoors and on our own these last two years. It’s time to get together again as a community, build relationships, get moving and be refreshed with a new sense of awe for our environment.”
Output and stories from the workshop will be used as input for Dew Dance’s new outdoor work, Under the treetops, which will make its debut as part of Buckinghamshire Culture’s 2022 Bucks Open Weekend.
The workshop costs £5 per person and will take place on 16 July at 10:30 am till noon at Wycombe Arts Centre. It is suitable for youth and adults ages 12+ with no previous experience needed. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Refreshments will be available by donation. Bring your friends or come as a family.
Please register before 16 July, on our website www.dewdance.co.uk, or by emailing Liezl at dewdances@gmail.com.
