Christmas at Legoland

19 December, 2023 - 3 January, 2024

Our family is a big fan of Legoland Windsor but we had yet to visit the annual Christmas at Legoland event at the park. We had heard good things, but our visit surpassed all our expectations!

We began with our usual theme park trick of arriving slightly before opening. This is nearly always the quietest part of the day at any theme park and allows you to get on a good number of rides before the queues build up.

Ride Offering

We visited Legoland Christmas on a Saturday in mid-December and for the first hour and a half of the event most of the rides, including the larger coasters like The Dragon and park favourites like Ninjago, had five-minute queue times. We thoroughly made the most of this and came off The Dragon to a fluffy of fake snowfall inside the castle!

The majority of the rides at Legoland Windsor are open for the Christmas event with mainly water rides being closed. Throughout the day there were plenty of rides available with short queue times. There was a great atmosphere in the park, but it felt much less crowded than in the warmer months of the year.

Festive Entertainment

Next, we decided to check out some the Christmas shows on offer in the park. There was a good selection of special shows including a festive retelling of Little Red Riding Hood at the Duplo Valley Theatre and an appearance from Ollie the Dragon in the Elves Workshop down on the Miniland stage.

There was also a regular parade of Santa on his sleigh lead by a fantastic troop of dancers. All of this extra entertainment really made the event and we particularly loved the parade which was so festive and fun. There is also an opportunity to meet Santa in his grotto for an extra charge.

As well as Christmas themed shows the 4D cinema was open showing the usual short movies – Lego Mythica, Lego City and Lego Dreamz. Build and Race, the new Ferrari inspired building rooms, were also open so there were plenty of indoor spaces where we could warm up throughout the day.

Decorations and Festive Feel

Another big highlight from this event was the huge array of decoration in the park. Every walkway felt like it was lined with trees and the park really came alive after dark when all the lights came on.

As well as the real trees, dusted with snow, there were also some incredible LEGO builds throughout the park. We loved the LEGO Santa down in Knights Kingdom and we were blown away by the Duplo Christmas tree at the entrance of the park which was even more stunning at night.

We also enjoyed exploring the decorations in Miniland. The London scenes were particularly lovely with Christmas trees and strings of lights between the builds.

Overall, we would definitely recommend a visit to Christmas at Legoland. There was so much on offer, from shows to a great selection of rides, and we loved how much effort had gone into decorating the park and making it feel so magical.

The event is open on selected dates in the run up to Christmas and after the big day itself, so there is plenty of time to enjoy all the festivities at Legoland Windsor.
