Animal Antics | Easter Holiday Activities for Kids at the Roald Dahl Museum
5 April - 21 April

The Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre in Great Missenden have a fantastic line up of activities over the Easter holidays.
Animal Antics Storytelling
Storytelling takes place on the following days: Saturday 5 to Monday 21 April – closed Monday 14 April.
Join in with a live storytelling from the Museum’s expert storytellers. You’ll hear extracts from either The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me or The Enormous Crocodile. Find out about the Ladderless Window-Cleaning Company or the Enormous Crocodile’s not-so-clever tricks. Opportunities to join in with actions and noises!
Awesome Under 5s Day – Mon 7th April
Don’t miss our special under 5s day in the Easter holidays! Great if you’re looking for activities for a wide age range of children. Explore our galleries as usual, but with some extra animal-themed activities for under 5s set up – including toddler storytelling and messy play.
Pelly Clay Buckets
Tuesday 8, Wednesday 9 and Wednesday 16 April
Learn about the book The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, and then get stuck in with clay! Use marvellous techniques to mould your special pelican bucket based on the Pelly’s beautiful beak, perfect for keeping all sorts of sweets and trinkets in. You’ll learn about how Roald developed the character then have a go at making your own. Get stuck in with clay and get your hands dirty. Your creation will just need air to dry, and we’ll clear up the mess – win, win! £5 per person in addition to Museum entry
Animal Antics Village Trail
Join expert guide, Michael, on a whistle stop tour around the Roald Dahl sights of Great Missenden, with storytelling along the way
Discover some of the animals in Roald Dahl books on this guided family walk. Be on the lookout for fictional pheasants, fox’s tunnels and even a lion or two – all bought to life with some storytelling from Roald’s books and life! For age 6 and over. £5 per person in addition to Museum entry
SEND Explore Your Way Quiet Day – Tue 15th April
Great for visitors with SEND and their friends and families. Museum sounds will be turned down and visitor numbers on this day will be reduced to help everyone experience the Museum in a more relaxed environment.
Enjoy sensory storytelling where The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me will be bought to life with visual prompts, objects, sound, movement and smells. SEND resources including Explorer Kits and Quiet Space Kits will be available to borrow for free.
Pelly Clay Buckets – 10:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm and 3pm. Join in with a hands-on clay workshop. Mold, sculpt and play exploring the material of clay and if you wish make a pelican’s mouth to keep trinkets in – all inspired by The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me.
£5 per participant, in addition to Museum entry.
Animal Handling with Jungle Juniors – Thu 17th April
Join Jungle Juniors for a 30-minute animal handling session.
Come face-to-face with some heroic minibeasts and bugs this Easter. We’ll be joined by Jungle Juniors who will tell you all about the animals’ wondrous ways and teach you some fascinating facts. You‘ll learn about some fascinating bugs and get up close to a range of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates — including some that feature in Roald Dahl’s stories. £5 per person (adults and children aged 3 years and up) in addition to Museum entry.
