This co-ed independent Prep school set in the village of Datchet nestled between Eton and Windsor has a long, successful history as the choice for local families looking for consistent pastoral and academic excellence. Eton End was established in 1936 to educate the children of the Masters at Eton College, and that relationship abides to this day ensuring that pupils can still enjoy some of the facilities on offer at the College.
From the very youngest children in The Nest through to the creative Pre-Prep and ambitious, industrious Prep school pupils, key themes resonate across all aspects of life here at Eton End. It is truly tangible and evident to see happy well-rounded children keen to share their success and develop their learning supported by the positive attitudes of staff in inspiring them to be independent, resilient, respectful, inclusive, collaborative learners and thinkers.
Pupils benefit from small classes, highly qualified staff, well-resourced facilities and specialist teaching in Languages, Music, Art, DT, Sport, Food Tech and Science to ensure there is a broad and stimulating curriculum to engage the children in their learning and progress.
Over the coming academic year, the school will move to a ‘bring your own device’ setting and enhance all aspects of digital learning including the establishment of a robotics and digital media lab. Eton End is a school with a foot firmly in the future whilst holding on to the ethos on which it was founded; the care and development of the whole child.
A wide range of co-curricular activities are on offer coupled with sporting fixtures and opportunities in the timetable, ensuring all pupils have the flex to engage in and experience a variety of additional clubs ranging from film-making to martial arts. The Eton Endeavour Award launches in September 2023 and will be a vehicle for further character development and enrichment opportunities within the school day.
Mrs Rachael Cox assumed the role of Headmistress in September 2022 at Eton End. With nearly three decades of extensive academic teaching and leadership experience, Rachael has already made an impact at Eton End leading the refurbishment of The Nest nursery and the Early Years classrooms.
There are more plans in place to further enhance the excellent provision in place at Eton End, all of which are based on the latest research and neuro-science. As a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching Rachael is passionate about ensuring the classrooms are reflecting the best practice with the highest impact.
Rachael is working in partnership with parents and teachers to ensure childhoods are preserved whilst ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning. Preparing children for a lifetime of change and learning is a core function of education today. Developing resilience, empathy, compassion and humility in Eton End pupils is just as important as the traditional academic curriculum. The school prides itself on providing an environment in which children thrive mentally, physically and academically.
Pupils at Eton End are proud of their success across a range of academic, sporting, musical and creative endeavours and achievements with leavers going onto their first choice of senior schools with several scholarships to their names.
